District Nurse
Hi, my name is Marissa Blanco, and I am proud to serve as the Head District Nurse for Gladewater ISD. I have been a Gladewater native my entire life, and it is an honor to serve the community I have always called home.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, and together we have two little boys, who keep us busy and bring so much joy to our lives. I graduated from Gladewater High School and began my nursing career at Kilgore College. As I continued advancing my nursing education, I worked in pediatric home health, where I discovered my passion for caring for children and supporting their families. I earned my Bachelor and Master Degrees of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Tyler. My experiences in pediatric nursing, leadership, and healthcare administration have strengthened my passion for serving students and creating a safe, healthy environment where every child can thrive.
As the Head District Nurse, I am committed to supporting the health and well-being of all GISD students and staff while working alongside our school nurses, families, and community to provide quality healthcare services. I am grateful for the opportunity to give back to the district that helped shape who I am and to serve the children and families of Gladewater.
I will always strive to put the health, safety, and well-being of our students and community at the forefront of my work.

MISSION STATEMENT
The Health Services of Gladewater ISD, gladly accepts the responsibility of caring for your sons and daughters while here at school. Our goal is to maintain a healthy student through the education and partnership of parents, teachers and the students themselves. Our role involves attending to the immediate medical needs of each student and a balance of preventative care through proper immunizations, various screenings and an open door in which the students may seek counsel on various health related matters. On occasion, we are able to go into the classrooms and interact with the students, sharing information and gaining insight from their perspective.
